What to put on a handyman invoice
- A short description of each job (e.g. “Replace bathroom faucet”)
- Labor as hours × your hourly rate
- Materials and parts at cost, or with your markup
- A call-out or travel fee, if you charge one
Take the job description from your quote word for word. When the invoice matches the quote, clients pay faster.
Questions
- Should materials be on a separate line?
- Yes. Separate lines show the client what was labor and what was parts, and make it easy to apply a different tax rate to each if your local rules require it.
- Can I send an estimate first?
- Switch the document type to Estimate at the top of the form. When the client agrees, choose Convert to invoice and the same lines become a numbered invoice.
- Can I add photos of the work?
- Not yet. For now, mention the photos in the notes and send them along with the PDF.
